Lodewijk Asscher

Lodewijk Frans Asscher is a Dutch politician of the Labour Party . He has been the Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands and Minister of Social Affairs and Employment in the Cabinet Rutte II sinceNovember 2012. He previously served as Acting Mayor of Amsterdam fromMarch 2010 toJuly 2010 after Job Cohen resigned as mayor to become the Labour Party leader and Lijsttrekker for the Dutch general election of 2010.

Lodewijk Frans Asscher was born onSeptember 1974 in Amsterdam in a mixed religious family his father is of Jewish descent and his mother is Catholic. His father is a member of the Peoples Party for Freedom and Democracy and his mother a member of the Labour Party.
